Dennis Whittinghill, one of The Urban Hillbillies, runs Riviv JC a local Jersey City business that encompasses a wide range of options for people to improve there lifestyles and become more self sufficient, with a goal of creating a smaller footprint on the planet. Whittinghill also owns Damaged Wear, a local apparel company that is well know for their “I F*&%ING LOVE JC” t-shirts.

MASSH is short for Medical and Social Services for the Homeless and PATH stands for Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness. MASSH/PATH is part of the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health and is located in Jersey City Medical Center at Greenville. “The program is looking to expand services to include a food pantry as well as purchase self heating meals that can be given to homeless clients to take with them,” said Yvonne Argento, Director of MASSH.

Both the MASSH and PATH programs are committed to working with a population that is often hard to engage and sometimes reluctant to seek services, providing homeless individuals with accessible, high quality care in a friendly environment. Services include case management with the goal of linking individuals to as many services as possible in the community, such as mental health and substance abuse treatment services, counseling, medical and dental care, financial assistance, temporary and permanent housing, habilitation and rehabilitation programs. Their goal is to enhance the lives of Hudson County homeless individuals so that they will have a healthier and better quality of life.

Be sure to stop by the JCI booth and purchase a t-shirt! The All About Downtown Street Fair is Saturday, September 19, from 11 am to 8 pm, on Newark Avenue between Grove Street and Jersey Avenue.
