Don’t underestimate the power of your vision to change the world. Whether that world is your office, your community, an industry or a global movement, you need to have a core belief that what you contribute can fundamentally change the paradigm or way of thinking about problems. ~ Leroy Hood
Happy New Year! Moving forward in 2016 we have new things planned and that includes a new look. As a first step, we have updated the Jersey City Independent logo. Look for other branding updates to follow on the website.
Over the past few months we’ve wanted to increase our coverage. To do that we have been looking to hire a few part time staff writers. I’m happy to announce we have filled one position. Cindy Chang will be covering community news & events for us starting next week.
We are still looking for someone to join our team to cover politics and other hard hitting news. (We also always have monthly freelance opportunities available.) If this sounds like you send me your resume, include 2 to 3 writing samples (or link to your work online), plus a brief summary of why you would like to work with us. You can contact me at checht(at)jerseycityindependent.com.

In October the JCI Fall print came out and was distributed throughout Jersey City. We’ll be digitally publishing theses articles soon but in the mean time be sure to pick an actual copy of the magazine at one of our many distribution locations.
Our Spring print issue is already in production. If you’re an artist living in Jersey City and have an image that you think would look great on one of our magazines, then submit your artwork to us digitally for consideration. Go to JCI Magazine Cover Submission for more details.
As a grassroots independent news organization, we rely on community support–as well as paid advertising–to survive.
