#DayInTheLifeJC Returns Citywide

The second annual #DayInTheLifeJC is back!

Last fall, on September 12, 2015, Honey and Moon Photography put out the call for people all over Jersey City to photograph their day as it unfolded, using the hashtag #DayInTheLifeJC. The community responded. Photographs rolled in from all six wards and judges chose their favorite images, which were then framed by Big Drum Art and Framing and presented as part of the Jersey City Art and Studio Tour (JCAST) 2015.

This year, on September 10, 2016, the hashtag propelled project returns.

The project is twofold: First, anyone with a camera and an Instagram account can participate by posting photos with captions that include the location and the hashtag #DayInTheLifeJC. Spend the day capturing the town and then either stop there, or move to the second step — choose your favorite to submit to Honey and Moon’s website (honeyandmoonphotography.com) for consideration at the exhibit. (Instagram hashtagging is not required for consideration at the opening – simply shoot on Sept. 10 and submit by Sept 11.)

And just like the first year, there are six judges, one from each ward, who will select their top ten images. The selected images will be mounted and displayed individually at an exhibit during JCAST, and will also be arranged into a banner that will be installed in front of City Hall.

Then, on October 7, at the opening night JCAST 2016 kickoff party, Honey and Moon Photography will host a Jersey City themed photo booth exhibit where party goers and art enthusiasts can take a closer look at the photos chosen by the #DayInTheLifeJC judges. (Ed. Note: The location of this party has not yet been revealed, according to city spokesperson Jennifer Morrill, but we do know it will be in the Bergen Layfayette neighborhood – we’ll update you when we know.)

So start gathering inspiration! #DayInTheLifeJC is just ten days away!
