Jersey City Curb-to-Curb Snow Removal Schedule; Cars Not Moved Will be Towed

January 25, 2016 Catherine Hecht

Mayor Fulop in coordination with the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) announced the Jersey City curb-to-curb snow removal plan for main thoroughfares and commercial districts. Snow removal will begin each night at 7 pm from Monday, Jan. 25 through Thursday, Jan. 28. Residents that do not move their vehicle will be subject to a ticket and tow. Police will be traveling along with the plows to sound their sirens and alert residents to move their vehicles.

A press release from City spokesperson Jennifer Morrill stated that commercial and main streets are being targeted, as these areas provide access to the daily needs of residents such as supermarkets, banks, pharmacies and other small businesses and services. Clearing these areas will also improve conditions for emergency responders to move throughout the city.

“We thank residents for their patience during what has been an historic blizzard,” said Mayor Fulop in a statement. “We’ve made progress clearing all of the main streets and are targeting our side streets and [Monday] night will implement the curb to curb removal of snow on our main arteries. We ask for residents’ cooperation in this process.”

On Monday night (Jan. 25) residents may park overnight in the Board of Education parking lots at Dickinson High School (2 Palisade Avenue) and PS 11 (886 Bergen Avenue). Vehicles need to be moved no later than 6 am Tuesday morning.
